Stanley Kubrick, Baz Luhrmann - Compare & Contrast

Stanley Kubrick

Stanley rarely uses short takes his are almost always very long, you are guaranteed to see slow spinning camera movements used in order to establish the scale of the setting. He uses this technique to create a vast expansive as well as an uneasy mood for the audience to experience first hand.

- He has a way of showing through political messages
- disturbing

Mark Anthony Luhmann

Artificial high saturated colours
lavish productions, over the top techniques and emphisis on hieghtened reality
drawn to tragic romantic stroires

Independent classics task - Market me

                                   Ajax spray and wipe

Ajax was a greek warrior famous for his partaking in the trojan war. Ajax is still pretty well known but more in the way of a everyday used kitchen and bathroom cleaner.
Even though there is no definite answer, word out is that the colgate - palmolive company used ajax as there brand name because the mythological figure was a mighty warrior who "cleaned up in the battle" They spontaneously played on this by representing ajax spray and wipe to be an everyday used household cleaner that will ensure you're messes to be cleaned up without a fight.

                                                          Hermes paris

Hermes was the greek god most well known for his job as the messenger of mt. Olympus but was also know from being the god of trade, wealth, language, thieves and travel. Hermes was considered a prankster from his constant cunning and clever personality. These days the hermes is still well known but as a very expensive french fashion luxury goods manufacturer that begun way back in 1837. They concentrate on producing and selling leather, lifestyle accessories, and home furnishings, and top of the line jewelry and have carried out the same logo of a Duc carriage with a horse, using hermes the greek god as a representation or a figure for their company. Using him helps represent there company as a trustworthy (as the messenger would have to be) and strong unit that will not fail to impress and work.

Character Strengths

   Humor

- How do you initiate playfulness, and how does that change for situation to situation.
When I see a debacle approaching, I use the handy gift of humor to lighten the situation up, this can sometimes lead to a miss communicated outcome where the other individual feels attacked, but with the proper use of my humor I can make it funny and non harmful. #nonewhereharmedinthemaking.

- How do other people you know express playfulness? What can you learn from observing playfulness in others.
When involving ourselves in an activity we all use a form of playfulness to help pick up the mood of a task and make it more interesting to be working on together, it helps when we are in groups and you can see who reaches out to break the awkwardness and start the conversation.

- In what situations has humor been a barrier for you in connecting with others.
When placed in a group situation or activity at school and not knowing the others very well, humor would usually be the conversation starter or something along those lines but certain people can not take a joke or find anything funny out of a boring situation and it makes it very hard to want to communicate more with them. This creates a barrier for me.

Hope

- What are the conditions that have lead you to be hopeful in your life.
Getting to that stage in level one where I didn't think I was gonna pass but made it through, getting my results back and seeing merits instantly boosted my hope and confidence in myself which lead to to go into year 12 level two with a lot more hope in myself.

- How do you balance what is realistic and what is unrealistic in terms of your expression of hope and optimism.
I would usually try and imagine myself in that situation or think about another past experience which may have been similar and see if it could really happen. Mostly its that extra hope you have in yourself that pushes you to succeed in the end but other than that its quite easy to determine what is real and what is not.

Viewpointing

What is view pointing?

:An actors point of view, using the space in a way which shows the time and creates kinesthetic response.

The past week in class we have been focusing on this. Coming up with ways to create emotion and tell a story through how we are using the space (stage) and the actions we are making. We now have a good understanding and will continue to work on this as a class.
